CCAB: Climate Change Action Brookline Fact:
"The typical American household generates 55,000 pounds of carbon dioxide annually. The average German household contributes only 27,000 pounds and the Swedish household only 15,000 pounds. There is so much individuals can do to slow global warming. The need is urgent." David Gershon

About Us : CCAB Committees (Volunteers Welcome!)

The Carbon Cutting Community Outreach Committee

  • spearheads a door-to-door campaign to encourage residents to sign up for NSTAR Green, a program that allows Brookline residents to get their electricity from a wind farm rather than from a conventional power plant that produces CO2
  • works on events such as Global Warming Cafes

The Weatherization/Green Homes Brookline Committee

  • works with the town planning department and with Next Step Living to provide free home energy assessments to Brookline residents

The EcoTeam/Green Neighborhoods Challenge Committee

  • leads a three-year campaign to recruit partners to form eco-teams across the community
  • has a goal to conduct eco-teams for 1,000 households during the first year (125 teams with an average of 8 members), as well as at one condo complex and one apartment complex

The Schools Committee

  • works to create Green Teams at each of our elementary schools
  • joins in the annual Science Fest
  • maintains a liaison with Brookline High's Green Team
